Dance and the museum: Stretching the boundaries
On 8 December Musea & Erfgoed Mechelen and Het Firmament, in collaboration with FARO, Flanders Arts Institute and Kaaitheater organize the international seminar 'Dance and the museum: Stretching the boundaries' in Mechelen (BE), within the framework of the exhibition Zot Geweld/Dwaze Maagd (running until 11 December). Dance is one of the central themes of the exhibition and with a wide range of activities dance finds a place in the exhibition room.
The purpose of the seminar is to bring the dance and museum world closer together and discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of partnerships. Speakers from home and abroad (among others, Tate Modern and Bundeskunsthalle) will present case studies. At various interactive table talks there is room for acquaintance and sharing experiences. The day will conclude with a museal version of the performance Deceptive Bodies (Charlotte Vanden Eynde and Dolores Bouckaert) in the exhibition hall.
