Opening CONTOUR 7, a Moving Image Biennale in Mechelen
CONTOUR 7, a Moving Image Biennale in Mechelen, will open on Saturday 29 August 2015.
This edition bears the artistic mark of curator Nicola Setari who has chosen Fooling Utopia as its motto. CONTOUR 7 is dedicated to Thomas More, the English humanist and statesman.
During a visit to Flanders, which included a stop in Mechelen in the summer of 1515, More wrote the bulk of his book on the ideal commonwealth, the island of Utopia. The Biennale will feature new and existing work by over twenty international artists spread across six venues in the City of Mechelen: Academie Mechelen, Cultural Centre Mechelen, the Vlietenkelder, city museum Hof van Busleyden, Kazerne Dossin and De Noker.
